THE LONDON MAGAZINE
The London Magazine was an influential literary magazine of its times. The original London Magazine, in which Hazlitt, Keats and De Quincey published some of their most celebrated work, ran from 1820-1889. John Lehmann refounded the magazine in 1954, and restored its presence as the monthly review of literature, publishing work by the new talents Amis and Larkin, alongside Jean Cocteau and John Betjeman. Upon the retirement of Lehmann in 1961, the magazine relaunched to embrace the wider arts, and over the next twenty years with Alan Ross as editor, continued to publish influential new work by Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath and Brandt.
