GRAHAM DOLPHIN

Graham Dolphin’s art takes the varied forms of representations in popular culture and re-configures them to allow a fresh look at this familiar subject. The objects and icons of the fashion and music worlds are reformed into assemblages that reveal the obsessions and formulas underwriting the temporal world of mass culture. Text works include every single word in an edition of Vogue gathered onto a single page the size of a magazine. Drawings compile every piece of eyewear or handbag or perfume in an edition as tracings onto one page. Video projections gather 100 catwalk moments in 100 seconds, flickering across the screen or 1500 images of Kate Moss flashing in 60 seconds. Music arrangements include all the songs in a Beach Boys album overlaid over each other. Dolphin’s almost compulsive interventions transform and disrupt the surface aspirations of the glamour industry.

In conjunction with the artist, Castle Editions are publishing a series of limited edition artworks as part of a unique collaboration between Graham Dolphin and the luxury avant-garde fashion label, BOUDICCA. The editions are exclusive to CASTLE., and will be released from 15th June 2005.
